A burning campfire surround by rocks to help contain the fire Camping and campfires go together!

Fall has been around a couple of weeks, but we are just starting to feel the season go into full cooling force which makes for a perfect time to build a warm fire on a chilly night.  Whether you’re at a campsite or your own backyard it is important to understand the fire laws in your area as well as campfire safety precautions. Be prepared for your next outing by following these safety tips to ensure everyone has an enjoyable night.

Safety should be your top priority – Fires are unpredictable so containing them is key. In campgrounds there are usually designated fire rings or grills provided.  Use them to keep the fire contained and away from trees, bushes and your tent or camper. If there are no ring available place rocks around the outside, dig a hole at least 6 inches deep and 2 feet across – keep the dirt around the pit. Make sure there is only dirt around you fire location. Have a bucket of water on hand – Just in case!  Never leave the fire unattended and when its time for lights out .. make sure your fire is completely out before hitting the hay!
