Summer Heat and Water Damage

6/30/2020 (Permalink)

Leaking Water hose outside a home A leaking water hose can cause water damage and the costs could be even worse.

It Summertime we go on vacation, have cookouts, enjoy time with our family and friends not thinking of a possible water leak. Leaky pipes are not only a problem in the winter months when they can become frozen and burst.  Leaks can occur in the hot summer months just as they can in the winter months. There are many reasons leaks can occur in the summer months – high water pressure, foundation shifts, tress roots, a compromised water supply line or a simple hose bib leak.  Summertime also brings increased rainfall and sometimes severe thunderstorms. The ground can become saturated quickly causing damage to your septic system – especially older systems.

Check your foundation often for cracks – inspect underneath your home for standing water and if your water bill seems higher than usual – chances are you have a leak somewhere.
